The difference between UL Standard and IEC Standard

 Different requirements for electric shock protection and fire prevention:

IEC standard is based on the electrical appliances with AC voltage of 220~240V, the design requirements for electric shock protection are high, that is, the electrical insulation performance and electrical clearance of materials and structures are strict; and the voltage of North American electrical appliances is 110~120V, plus the building structure is mostly wood, so the UL standard in fire prevention requirements are relatively strict, the requirements for material flame resistance are higher, the polymerization materials used in key parts of the product need a higher UL flame retardant grade;

Standard structure is different:

The special safety requirements of IEC standard for specific products should be used in combination with the general safety requirements, while UL standard is one product and one standard; UL standard is the combination of the structure and the performance test method is the key to ensure safety, and the test results are the basis for verifying the design of the structure and the selection of the IEC standard and the requirements that may affect the product safety performance; in addition, UL standard also makes relevant provisions for the routine inspection of the factory;

Different test methods;

Mark requirements are different: UL standard are more stringent, all marks must be permanent, pressure sensitive nameplate and adhesive should meet the requirements of UL 969 standard
