IEC 60884 plug sockets and plug connectors

IEC 60884 is an international standard for plug sockets and plug connectors developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The standard is widely used around the world to ensure the safety and interoperability of electrical equipment.

Standard overview

IEC 60884 The standard covers the design, size and performance requirements of connectors and plug sockets for electrical devices.

It puts forward strict requirements for the design and manufacturing of plug socket, including rated voltage, rated current, insulation performance, heat resistance, grounding mode, etc., and stipulates the appearance requirements of plug socket, such as identification, color, material, etc.

scope of application

IEC 60884 The standard applies to the following types of plugs and sockets:

Indoor or outdoor use, household, and similar use.

Only used for alternating current, the rated voltage is more than 50V but not more than 440V, and the rated current is not more than 32A.

Plugs and fixed or mobile sockets with or without earth contact.

In addition, the standard applies to plugs and mobile sockets with wire components and plugs, live and extended components, and plug sockets as part of the appliance.

But it should be noted that it is not suitable for industrial plugs, sockets and couplers, as well as appliance couplers.
